Fizban's Treasury of Dragons out now
Dungeons & Dragons has released a new source book that expands on the "Dragon" part of D&D. Coming in at 224 pages, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons contains a massive bestiary featuring stat blocks for all your favorite dragons. Additionally, the book contains new dragonic races for your characters, dragon magic, and tons of tools for DMs--including how to play as dragons. It's everything you need to know about dragons.
Fizban's Treasury of Dragons is available at your local gaming shop for $50, and you can use Wizards of the Coast's store finder to search out a place to buy it near you.
But what would a new D&D book be without a super-cool miniature from WizKids? Well, lucky for you, WizKids has one gigantic dragon based on one of the dragons from the sourcebook. Coming out by the end of 2021 is the Gargantuan Tiamat, which does have a pretty hefty price tag of $420, but that's because this thing is huge. WizKids sent us Tiamat to check out, and keep reading for more info and photos of the beast.
What's a Tiamat?
The Gargantuan Tiamat miniature is a beast--in both the literal and figurative sense. Tiamat is the progenitor of chromatic dragons, and it embodies things evil dragons love. Tiamat lives in the Nine Hells, unless she happens to magically escape and take on a group of well-travelled adventurers or a pack of level 1 travelers if you're a mean DM.
If Tiamat is unleashed upon the world, prepare for destruction because that's what she's great at. However, if she's trapped in the Nine Hells, she can manifest her aspect to the Material Plane. And yes, this dragon has five heads, and while these heads may all operate independently, they are all Tiamat.
By the way, if you own the Fizban sourcebook, the Tiamat statblock is on page 166--and there's a really cool art piece of Tiamat on the following page. You can learn about one of the creature's legendary attacks, which thrusts your character into Hell.
A closer look at the heads, part one.
Like all of the other WizKids minis, Tiamat is exceptionally detailed with an incredible paint job.
Five heads are better than one
Here is a closer look at the other heads on this "mini."
More than two feet wide
Here's how large this miniature is. The wingspan is 28 inches long, and it's 14 inches tall.
Almost too big for your shelf... almost
The long tail wraps around in back, and as you can see, there is an attention to detail comparable with the rest of WizKids' miniatures.
Seriously, it's big
Here's a full look at Tiamat, but it may be hard to understand just how big this miniature is compared to other minis from WizKids.
Compared to other minis
We have Tiamat next to an Adult Red Dragon mini and a human mini. And yes, Tiamat is even bigger than Arveiaturace, which was released at the beginning of this year. It's one of the largest minis from WizKids to date, and like other recent releases, Tiamat also has a clear base, so you can see the terrain below her.
Tiamat can be preordered at D&D Mini for $420, as it doesn't have a specific release date as of this writing. However, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons is available now at local book stores and digitally.
