Avengers Campus: See The Ant-Man Restaurant's Wildest Food Option Friv 0

While there will be plenty to do at Avengers Campus when it opens this summer at Disney California Adventure, one very important aspect of the new theme park land's storytelling is the food. The primary restaurant, the Pym Test Kitchen, extends the world of Ant-Man beyond what has been seen on the big screen.

The plot behind the Pym Test Kitchen is that Hank Pym is attempting to use his quantum technology to solve some of the world's problems--like food shortages. His team does that by taking normal foods and making them gigantic, thanks to the use of a modified quantum tunnel in the quick-service restaurant. The end result is a series of "experiments" that include everything from appetizers to meals to cocktails and desserts, most of which have fun twists that make them stand out.

During a media preview of Avengers Campus, which is still under construction, we got the chance to see and taste several menu items that will be available to visitors in the restaurant this summer. Take a look at the best bites and drinks Avengers Campus will have to offer.

For more about Avengers Campus, take a look at our comprehensive coverage:

Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort's California Adventure is scheduled to open on July 18.

Quantum Pretzel

What’s not to love about a giant soft pretzel? The Bavarian-style snack is enough for a group to share and comes with two sauces, a beer cheese sauce and mustard.

Snack Molecules

If a pretzel isn’t up your alley, the Snack Molecules are available at the outdoor Pym Tasting Lab, which also houses the alcoholic drinks available at the Test Kitchen. The molecules are a mix of miniature pretzels, honey roasted peanuts and popped sorghum. What’s sorghum? Imagine tiny popcorn.

PB³ Superb Sandwich

This sandwich takes the traditional peanut butter and jelly to the extreme. It features peanut butter, strawberry jelly, banana, and bacon, sandwich between some colorful bread. On the side are tater tots and a banana smoothie shooter, which is essentially a mini milkshake.

PYM-ini

If the PB³ is a little too adventurous for you, the Test Kitchen also offers a more standard panini sandwich, which includes salami, rosemary ham, provolone, sun-dried tomato mayonnaise, arugula, and marinara dipping sauce. Still, while this may sound like a normal sandwich, this panini has a twist. It’s actually two feet long when it’s made (Thanks quantum tunnel) and you can buy it by the slice for yourself, or the entire two-foot thing to feed a group.

Impossible Spoonful

Avengers Campus does feature meatless options and this is the best of the bunch. The Impossible Spoonful consists of a giant meatless meatball--made largely of Impossible meat replacement--on a bed of rigatoni and ditalini pasta, with a tomato sauce and cheese. The pastas are two different sizes, helping play with the scale of the meal and the entire thing is served in a giant ladle. At least, that’s what it’s served in for now. If guests were quick to take the sporks from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge home, these don’t stand a chance.

Not So Little Chicken Sandwich

If you like a fried chicken sandwich, you’re going to love this. However, you might need a knife and fork to eat it. The sandwich is a fried chicken breast topped with two sauces--teriyaki and red chili--and pickled cabbage. To set it apart from any other chicken sandwich, the chicken breast is pounded out thin to make it appear larger, while the bun is slider-sized. It gives this sandwich a truly unique look, but it’s the sauces on it that help the taste stand out.

The cocktails

If you like beer, cocktails, and a mixture of the two, you’re going to want to spend some time in the Pym Tasting Lab. The lab will feature several exclusive beers, as well as beer cocktails--including one that features ice cream and marshmallows. There are also non-beer cocktails and hard seltzers, all exclusive to the Pym Tasting Lab, available for purchase.

The non-alcoholic drinks

If booze isn’t your thing, don’t worry. The Pym Test Kitchen includes plenty of other options to drink. Naturally, there’s a number of Coca-Cola options, since that’s the only brand of soda you’ll find in a Disney theme park. However, the company has also partnered with Coke to develop a new flavor for Avengers Campus. Pingo Doce is a brand of soda that has been seen in the MCU movies Incredible Hulk and Ant-Man. Now it’s real. While the chefs at Disney wouldn’t reveal what flavors are used in the bright green concoction, it’s pretty tasty.

If you don’t drink soda, you might want to try the Proton PB&J Punch. It’s made up of lemonade with strawberry and peanut butter flavor added and is topped with a peanut butter-infused whipped cream and crunchy peanut butter balls. It’s a very sweet drink, but could be suitable for a dessert.
