Sony's Upcoming Exclusives


After a great year in video games in 2019, we can only expect to see even bigger and better gaming experiences as we make our way through 2020. So we've rounded up some of the most anticipated exclusive titles that are coming to not only PS4 but PS5. That's right, and this year will mark the release of Sony's next console, which we know to be releasing sometime this holiday.

So far, there's only one confirmed game for PS5, but we'll be sure to update this feature further with more newly confirmed next-generation exclusives, as well as any exciting new games with confirmed release dates. Godfall


Announced at the 2019 game awards, Gearbox's Godfall is a third-person melee action-RPG. In this melee-focused action-RPG, players can choose to play solo or in groups up to three via multiplayer co-op. As one of the first games confirmed for PS5, not much else has been revealed other than a Playstation Blog post describing some of its all-new "looter-slasher" mechanics. With plans for a holiday 2020 release, Playstation said to look out for more information about Godfall coming this spring.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus


Based on a free-to-play mobile RPG, Granblue Fantasy: Versus utilizes the same universe and its characters and throws them into a 2D fighting game. Developed by Arc System Works, this will be the franchise's first significant outing onto home consoles and its first appearance in North America. Since the original E3 2019 announcement, 11 characters have been announced with more coming to the roster via future DLC.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition


Over the last four years, Street Fighter V has gone through a flurry of changes, updates, and DLC. On February 14, a new version of Street Fighter V subtitled Champion Edition will be released on all platforms and will be the ultimate package for both fans and newcomers. It will come with new stages, costumes, balance changes, and a stacked 40 character roster. Among those fighters is the return of Street Fighter 4 boss Seth, who's exclusively available to Champion Edition. A new iteration paired with a whole season of tournament action ahead means 2020 is sure to be a great year for Street Fighter fans worldwide.

Marvel's Iron Man VR


Coming exclusively to PSVR, you'll be able to suit up as one of Earth's mightiest heroes in this new and original Iron Man adventure aptly titled Marve's Iron Man VR. The game's announcement trailer shows how your VR headset can imitate Tony's in-helmet UI as you fly through the atmosphere. Utilizing Iron Man's iconic arsenal in virtual reality, players will fight various threats to save the world.

Final Fantasy VII Remake


After decades of waiting, Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to the PS4. The iconic Square Enix RPG had its share of rumors surrounding a possible remake as early as the mid-2000s when there was talk about one being made on PS2. However, the project went cold, and it wasn't until E3 2015 where the reveal trailer announced the official ground-up remake using the Unreal 4 engine. Square Enix also announced an official release date of March 3, 2020-- a full 23 years after the original release. And from what we've seen so far, it is looking to be worth the wait.

Nioh 2


Only a year after the release of Team Ninja's Nioh in 2017, a sequel was announced at E3 2018. While it's a sequel in name, it will take place before the events of the first game. Similar to the original's pre-release phase, a limited-time beta demo was released, which showed off the upcoming game's new enemies, yokai powers, and the ability to customize your protagonist. Team Ninja creative director Tom Lee assured surveyed players that all feedback from the beta was well-received, and more improvements will be made. So if you've been eager for more fast-paced samurai action, Nioh 2 should give you exactly what you need.

Persona 5 Royal


Previously released only in Japan, Persona 5 Royal is an expanded edition of the 2016 original. This updated version adds PS4 Pro support, 20 new music tracks, a new Phantom thief, an all-new third semester, and much more. Much like Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal seems to be the definitive version for both newcomers and veterans of the original game. And if you want to go all out, a Phantom Thieves collector's edition was announced. The bundle includes a dynamic PS4 theme, Joker Mask, artbook, soundtrack, and steelbook case.

Predator: Hunting Grounds


Hunt or be hunted; the choice is yours. Predator: Hunting Grounds is an asymmetrical shooter coming exclusively to the PS4. Your mission as the Predator is simple: hunt, stalk, and study the warriors in the forest as you take them down one by one while collecting a trophy for each hunt in the process. Equipped with a variety of classes, weapons, and tech, you'll be mercilessly hunting unsuspecting mercenaries in the jungle. Your mission as the mercenary team, however, can be a little more complicated. Although you'll be playing as a member of an elite unit, you'll have to coordinate and strategize your way to safety without falling prey to the hunter.

The Last Of Us Part II


Set five years after the events of its predecessor, The Last Of Us Part II follows an older Ellie and Joel, who have finally found a life of peace among a thriving community of survivors. However, an unexpected event forces Ellie to embark on a new journey in search of vengeance, justice, and closure. On May 29, you can experience this beautiful but dangerous world for yourself. And thanks to the newest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, which adds a wealth of new enemies and AI tweaks, the characters and world are more realistic, unsettling, and meticulously detailed than ever before.

Ghost Of Tsushima


At Paris Games Week 2017, Sucker Punch games announced its next project following the successful Infamous series. Ghost Of Tsushima is an open-world action-adventure set in the 1270s. You play as Jin Sakai, one of the remaining Samurai defending the island of Tsushima against the invasion of the Mongol empire. Since its announcement, trailers have revealed what combat will be like, as well as the sprawling environment you'll explore. Ghost of Tsushima is scheduled to launch this summer.

The Pathless


From the developers of Abzu, The Pathless is a single-player atmospheric adventure that takes you through a world plagued by darkness. Explore a mysterious cursed island with your eagle companion as you bound acrobatically through dense forests, hunt prey, and discover ancient ruins. As a graceful Hunter moving through a mystical world, your skills and abilities will be the key to conquering the dangerous spirits lurking in the woods. With a distinct take on the design of archery and an intriguing setting, The Pathless is looking to be one of the more promising PS4 indie games coming early this year.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon


Yakuza returns in 2020 with a fresh face. In Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you play as Ichiban Kasuga, a young member of Tojo Clan's Arakawa Family, who serves 18 years in prison after trying to work his way up the ranks. When released from jail, he ends up in Yokohama far from home in a place where no one remembers him. When compared to previous games, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is changing things up with a combat system overhaul that combines the series' popular brawler elements with a new turn-based battle system. Yakuza: Like a Dragon launches in Japan on January 16, and worldwide later this year.
