On March 24, Halo makes the jump from video games to Paramount+ as the new TV series debuts. The latest Halo TV show trailer arrived on January 30, and if you're a fan of the games, then there is a lot to love here.

We got our first look at the show during The Game Awards back in December. Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television is producing, and will be directed in part by Otto Bathhurst, who is known for his work on Black Mirror. It stars Pablo Schreiber as everyone's favorite Spartan, Master Chief and features Natascha McElhone, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac, and Bokeem Woodbine in the cast as well.

Throughout the latest trailer, there were plenty of references to the video game series we saw. There were some classic weapons, huge ships we've all driven in the game a few times, and there were plenty of familiar faces--some of which were alien. Check out a breakdown of everything worth mentioning in this trailer.

Helmet off?

One of the things about Halo is that you never see Master Chief's face. Much like the UK's Judge Dredd, this has become a part of who the character is. In one shot, we do see what we presume to be Master Chief's back and the back of his head, while the narrator discusses the modifications he's gone through. Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) will be taking on the iconic Spartan role.

Dr. Halsey

Natascha McElhone (Designated Survivor) plays Dr. Halsey, and she is the creator of the Spartan-II program and the assault armor we're all very familiar with from the Halo game series. Halsey is also the basis for Cortana in the games, though the AI is portrayed by someone else in the series.

Other Spartans

Of course, Chief won't be the only Spartan on the show. He'll be joined by Kate Kennedy (Assassin's Creed Valhalla) as Kai-125, Bentley Kalu (Ron's Gone Wrong) as Vannak-134, and Natasha Culzac (The Witcher) as Riz-028. While not pictured above, Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming) will be playing Soren-066.

One hit wonder

For a brief moment, we see a Type-1 Energy Sword burn through a wall and almost impale someone. This Covenant weapon is used exclusively by the Sangheili in the games--unless you get a hold of one and run amok through the enemy with it.

Speak of the devil

The one close-up shot we see of one of the Covenant is a Sangheili. Humans call them "Elites," and they can be quite a pain in the butt to deal with in the game. And they look great for the upcoming series. That said, this could also be the Arbiter, Thel 'Vadam, a trusted ally of Chief in the games.

Warthog time

It wouldn't be Halo without the M12 Warthog, the all-terrain vehicle used throughout the video game series. This is probably the cleanest-looking Warthog we've ever seen. However, seeing this vehicle in a canyon really makes us reminisce about the Blood Gulch days.

First person mode

This brings back memories to Dwayne Johnson's Doom movie, doesn't it? We see a scene of Master Chief taking on two Elites, and Chief is using the MA5 Series machine gun--which is essentially the default automatic weapon in the game series. If you look closely during this scene, you'll see the Elite's armor glowing, representing its energy shield.

A big purple ship

We get to see a brief shot of one of the Covenant ships. This is the Phantom, a troop carrier you've probably encountered time and time again in the Halo games. Typically, these bad boys will drop in, let a bunch of troops off of it, and try to shoot you down as it blasts away.

A big green ship

On the human side, the UNSC uses the Pelican to drop off troops into combat. Here we see one surrounded by UNSC troops and a few Warthogs.

Cortana

She may not be a shade of translucent blue, but she's still computer generated. We're talking about Cortana, of course, and this is the first time we've seen her in the trailers. Jen Taylor will be voicing the character on the series. She also voiced the character in the video game series.

At least they're not camping

One of the coward's favorite weapons in Blood Gulch is the Sniper Rifle System 99, which we see a Spartan holding here, as a Phantom blazes overhead. Why would a Spartan be using a long-range weapon like this in the middle of combat?

Hiding behind a shield

Is there anything more annoying than having to deal with Jackals while trying to clear out an area, as they hide behind their energy shields? We finally get to see one in the upcoming Paramount+ series.

A automobile for two

In the corner of one of the many cool shots we see of Spartans walking toward the camera are a couple people riding what could be a Mongoose, also known as the M274 Ultra-Light All-Terrain Vehicle. The design looks a bit different than Mongooses (Mongeese?) we've seen in previous games, but it's like the others in that it's an ATV that primarily holds one person.

Opening a can of worms

For those not as in-tune with the Halo universe, you see a bunch of people covered in worms, you might be a tad confused. This is most likely the work of a Covenant Hunter--which is made up of a bunch of worm-like creatures. There is also this woman who seems to be a defector, working with the Covenant.

Old reliable

Briefly, we see a Spartan holding the BR55 service rifle. You probably remember it from the game, as it has a scope on it and fires in bursts of three.
