For fans of Funko Pop vinyl figures, it's the most wonderful time of the year! The FunKon 2021 hybrid virtual/in-person convention kicks off on August 4, allowing collectors of designer toys the opportunity to buy some of the newest and rarest items Funko has to offer.
GameSpot got the opportunity to preview the offerings at a media preview event. In all, 57 exclusive and limited items are being offered--50 of which are brand new Funko Pop collectibles. After combing through all of the exclusives up for grabs, we've boiled it down to the 15 absolute coolest.
If you're actually attending FunKon--online or in-person--these are the Pops you should have your eyes on. If you're not, take a look below at what you're missing out on. Chances are they'll all be available for a much higher price on eBay soon enough.
FunKon runs August 4-6, with plenty of news, live streams, and giveaways. While a small in-person gathering will be happening at the company's Hollywood store, those without tickets can take part in the virtual convention across Funko's Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
1. Jumbo Galactus (Galaxy)
This is a variant of the original jumbo-sized Galaxtus Pop. Instead of the traditional color scheme, this Galactus is painted to look like a galaxy--and it comes with a miniature Silver Surfer pop colored the same way.
2. Alice in Wonderland's Walrus and the Carpenter
Like Galactus, this particular Pop is technically two--the two minor characters from Alice in Wonderland. While the Walrus is a standard-sized Pop, the Carpenter is a miniature.
3. Alice in Wonderland's White Rabbit (Blacklight)
This new take on the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland joins Funko's blacklight Pops line. Not only does the figure glow brightly when held under a blacklight, but it also comes in a very colorful box that strays from Funko's traditional offerings.
4. Crash Bandicoot in Kupuna-wa Armor
Crash Bandicoot fans are going to want to take a look at this. The convention's Crash Bandicoot exclusive finds the titular bandicoot in a Kupuna-wa mask, which first appeared in 2020's Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
5. It's A Small World: Child from Mexico
For Disney Parks fans, chances are you'll want to get your hands on this Pop, which represents one of the children from the Mexico section of the iconic ride It's a Small World.
6. Blade
The MCU movie has yet to materialize, but Funko isn't waiting. Instead, the Blade Pop is one of the exclusives available at FunKon and, honestly, we want it.
7. Capwolf
Speaking of Marvel, Capwolf is a dream come true. The Pop is a tribute to the alternate universe version of Captain America who also happens to be a werewolf. This particular version of Cap first appeared back in the comics in 1992 when Steve Rogers literally became a werewolf for a hot minute.
8. Falcon
While in the MCU, Sam Wilson is wearing his new Captain America suit, Funko is paying tribute to an iconic Falcon costume with his new Pop.
9.Doctor Fate
Jumping sides from Marvel to DC, FunKon brings with it the opportunity to pick up the first official Doctor Fate Pop, in all of his gold-helmeted glory.
10. Nubia
Like Wonder Woman, Nubia is a powerful Amazon, who, like Diana, was granted the power of certain gods--and has indeed been identified as Wonder Woman before. Though the character was first created in 1973, this is her first Pop, making it a worthwhile addition to your collection.
11. Imperial Palace Deathstroke
This new take on Deathstroke joins DC's line of Imperial Palace Pops that feature iconic heroes and villains suited up in armor inspired by Chinese history.
12. Parks and Recreation's Leslie Knope (Filibuster)
Yes, there are other Leslie Knope Pops. None of them compare to this version, based on the Season 6 episode in which Leslie carries out an entire filibuster while wearing roller skates and dressed for a '90s birthday party. Yes, the Pop even features her skates.
13. Emperor's New Groove's Kronk (Scout Leader)
If you're a Disney animated movie fan, chances are you remember the scene from Emperor's New Groove where Kronk acts as a scout leader pretty well. Now you can keep it around forever, with this very silly Pop.
14. Beauty and the Beast's Wardrobe
Practically every item in the Beast's castle comes to life as part of the curse, including the Wardrobe, which is captured practically perfectly by Funko in this piece.
15. The Rocketeer (Flying)
We saved the best for last. The Rocketeer is a fantastic movie--and one we should all revisit more often. What better way to memorialize the movie than with this Pop of the jetpack-strapped superhero taking flight?
