Black Friday 2020's best gaming deals so far

November is well underway, and that means hype around Black Friday 2020 is starting to get real. Many retailers, including Walmart and Target, have released their Black Friday ad scans teasing their biggest holiday promotions, and we already know about a ton of great gaming deals thanks to Best Buy and GameStop.

Whether you're looking for discounted games to play on your new PS5 or Xbox Series X, a new gaming headset, or a 4K TV, you're sure to find some great options at their lowest prices. Physical Xbox One games and PS4 games can be played on the next-gen consoles as long as you have the version with a disc drive. If you have a Series S or PS5 Digital, that means you won't be able to take advantage of these physical game deals, but expect digital sales to launch on PSN, Xbox Live, and the Nintendo eShop in the coming days. We'll update this story as Black Friday sales start to go live, but for now, here are the best Black Friday gaming deals announced so far. Keep in mind most of these deals will be live next week--the key start dates to know are below.

  • Amazon: November 20-27
  • GameStop: November 25-29
  • Best Buy: November 22-29
  • Walmart: November 25-29
  • Target: November 22-28
  • Kohl's: November 22-27

Plus, if you're shopping for a specific platform, see the best PS5 deals, the best Xbox Series X/S deals, and the best Nintendo Switch deals for Black Friday 2020.

Nintendo Switch Bundle with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and 3 Months of Switch Online

$300

Nintendo has once again brought back the Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle from years past, though it's a better deal this year. Not only is this the newer Switch model with improved battery life; it also comes with three months of Switch Online, making this a great choice for new Switch owners. It'll be available at all major retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and Target.

PlayStation Plus 12-Month Subscription (Digital Code)

$33 (was $60)

For PS4 and new PS5 owners, this PS Plus deal offers a great way to renew or extend your membership for cheap. Though not an official Black Friday deal, this Ebay offer is the best you'll find, offering half off the price of a yearly subscription. PS Plus is worth the money, as it unlocks access to online multiplayer, free monthly games, and more than a dozen hit PS4 games as part of the PlayStation Plus Collection. This is a digital code you'll receive via email within 24 hours--it can then be redeemed right away in the PlayStation Store.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3-Month Subscription (Digital Code)

$20 (was $45)

Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S owners can take advantage of a great online membership deal too. Three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions are down to $20 in GameStop's Black Friday sale, but only for one day: November 27. This will be a great time to stock up, though new subscribers should claim their first month for $1 before tacking on the discounted three-month memberships. Note that this is a physical card that'll be shipped.

Meanwhile, Best Buy will have three-month memberships for $23 from November 22 to 29. These are digital codes, so you won't pay the cost of shipping.

Watch Dogs: Legion

$30 (was $60) | LIVE NOW

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Perhaps one of the best Black Friday game deals we've seen so far, Watch Dogs: Legion is down to just $30 from its list price of $60 in Best Buy's Black Friday sale, less than a month after release. This deal is exclusive to My Best Buy members, which means you just need to create a free Best Buy account. The latest entry in Ubisoft's action-adventure franchise earned an 8/10 in GameSpot's Watch Dogs: Legion review.

Persona 5 Royal

$20 (was $60) | LIVE NOW

Platforms: PS4/PS5

Persona 5 Royal is the definitive, expanded edition of the 2017 JRPG classic. P5R adds new characters, new locations to explore, a new grappling hook mechanic, and much more. If you've never played Persona 5, this is absolutely the version to get. It earned a rare 10/10 in GameSpot's Persona 5 Royal review. Right now, it's on sale for just 20 bucks at Best Buy--that's an unbelievable deal for a game with well over 100 hours of content. You'll need a free Best Buy account to claim the deal.

Just Dance 2021

$30 (was $50) | LIVE NOW

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Just Dance just released on November 12, so it's surprising to see it available for $20 off already. Whether you're a longterm Just Dance fan or are looking for a game that makes for a good indoor workout, finding Just Dance at this price before the holidays is a great deal. The latest entry adds more than 40 new songs, including artists like Lizzo, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa.

The Last of Us Part II

$30 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5

The Last of Us Part II was, without a doubt, one of the biggest and most anticipated game releases this year. If you haven't played Sony's post-apocalyptic PlayStation exclusive, it's down to just $30 at Best Buy for Black Friday.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

$25 (was $40)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

The beloved pair of skateboarding games are remastered and packaged together in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, which released this fall. The game includes the original pro roster, iconic soundtrack, and game modes while also adding new pros, songs, and other features. We're seeing the first significant discount on the game during Black Friday, when it'll be down to $25.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection

$25 (was $50)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Mortal Kombat 11's first major expansion, Aftermath, released earlier this year, and if you're completely new to MK11, the Aftermath Kollection is a great option to go with. It bundles the base game with the new expansion, which continues the story of MK11 and adds new playable characters, new stages, stage Fatalities, and more. The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection is down to $25 in Best Buy's Black Friday sale.

Madden NFL 21

$27 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

The ever-popular football series is back for another year with Madden NFL 21, which adds a great new game mode, The Yard, that's inspired by backyard football. It's on sale for just $27 during Black Friday, and even better: the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game come with free next-gen upgrades for PS5 and Series X/S.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time

$30 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Crash Bandicoot 4 just released in October, and it's already seeing a 50% discount during Black Friday. The fourth mainline game in the platforming franchise, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time picks up right after the end of the third game, and you'll be able to play as the villainous Neo Cortex in addition to Crash and his younger sister Coco.

Ghost of Tsushima

$40 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5

Sucker Punch's open-world samurai adventure was the last PS4 exclusive to release before the launch of the PS5, and if you never picked it up at launch, you can grab it for its lowest price yet during Black Friday: $40. Multiplayer modes were added after launch, so there's no better time to dive in.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

$25 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5

One of the best games released this year, Final Fantasy VII Remake, is over 50% off during Black Friday at Target. The PlayStation exclusive, which received a 10/10 in GameSpot's FFVII Remake review, reimagines the iconic JRPG with new gameplay and stunning modern graphics, and the Midgar section has been expanded from a short introductory area into a full 40-hour campaign. As such, this is the first of an unknown number of parts of Final Fantasy VII Remake--and it's a steal at this price.

Star Wars Squadrons

$17 (was $40)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Another recent release, Star Wars Squadrons will be a fraction of its list price during Black Friday. The arcade-style dogfighting game revives a once-popular genre for the franchise and will be just $17, down from $40.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

First-party Switch games are once again seeing their best prices of the year during Black Friday. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening--the charming remake of the Game Boy classic--will be available for just $30 at Walmart.

Luigi's Mansion 3

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

In Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario's lovable brother must once again face his fears and hunt down some ghosts, this time in a haunted high-rise hotel. The game has the notable addition of Gooigi, a green clone of Luigi who can be controlled by the main player (or a second player in local co-op) to solve puzzles in hard-to-reach places. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a great game in general, but it's a particularly nice choice for families due to its numerous multiplayer modes.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Fire Emblem: Three Houses was one of the best games released last year, and it's a steal at just $30 due to its high replayability, great story, and fun gameplay. In this latest entry in the turn-based tactics franchise, you're a professor in charge of a group of students (who make up one of three houses) at Garreg Mach Monastery, training them in the arts of combat, building relationships with them, and guiding them into battle.

Marvel's Avengers

$27 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Though Square Enix's video game reimagining of Marvel's Avengers may not have sold as well as the publisher anticipated, the action-adventure game is worth it at this price, even if just for its excellent single-player story campaign. It also introduces a lesser-known protagonist, Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel, who shines as the game's central protagonist and, as editor Phil Hornshaw wrote in his Marvel's Avengers review, "provides it a moral and emotional heart."

Pokemon Let's Go

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

We're not getting a new Pokemon game release this holiday season, so if you're feeling a Pikachu-sized hole in your heart, the Pokemon: Let's Go games are solid fun at a great price. Let's Go, Eevee and Let's Go, Pikachu are colorful remakes of Pokemon Yellow, which introduced the original 150 Pokemon, and though they may feel a bit too easy for longtime players, they're a perfect choice for kids and those new to the mainline Pokemon series. Even if you're a Pokemon veteran, it's always fun to go back to Kanto.

BioShock: The Collection

$15 (was $50)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

If you've been wanting to play through the BioShock series on Switch but have been turned away by the steep $50 price tag, here's your best opportunity to grab all three titles in the iconic first-person series for just $15. Note that you'll need a Switch microSD card to handle the download if you don't already have one.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is often discounted in these first-party Switch game promotions, but it's rare to find it at $30. For fans of traditional Super Mario Bros. platformer, you'll find plenty to love here, and it's a great option for couch co-op as well.

Super Mario Maker 2

$30 (was $60)

Platform: Nintendo Switch

Design, build, and then play through your own Super Mario levels in Super Mario Maker 2, which released last year for Switch. You can also look up and play levels made by your friends or anyone else online. If you prefer to play than mess around with the game's design tools, there's also a Story Mode with over 100 built-in courses. Both local and online multiplayer modes are available as well.

Doom Eternal

$20 (was $60)

Platforms: PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X

Best Buy's Black Friday sale will have this year's action-packed first-person shooter Doom Eternal for just $20. The ad only shows the Xbox One/Series X version, but it's a safe bet this deal will be available on PS4 and PS5 too. There's a Switch version as well, and we don't know for sure if the deal will be available for that platform.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps Collector's Edition

$30 (was $50)

Platforms: Xbox One/Series X

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is one of the best games released for Xbox One, and it comes with a free next-gen upgrade as well. Since this is a physical edition, you'll only get that upgrade for Series X by putting the disc in your console. The Collector's Edition for this stunning platformer comes in a premium box and includes a steelbook case, art book, piano collections music CD, and original soundtrack MP3 download.

Vizio 70" Class 4K Smart TV with HDR

$478 (Black Friday special)

If you're looking to upgrade to a 4K TV for next-gen gaming, here's an excellent choice at Walmart. This Vizio 70-inch Class 4K Smart TV with HDR will be just $478 when Walmart's Black Friday sale kicks off on November 25 at 7 PM ET, though we suggest being ready and waiting on the listing at that time, as deals like this tend to sell out right away at Walmart. Notably, this model supports HDMI 2.1, which is required to play games in 4K with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR. See our full guide on picking the best TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X for more details.

Turtle Beach Recon 70 Gaming Headset

$23 (was $40)

Compatible with: PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch

If you're looking for a solid gaming headset that won't break the bank, you can't go wrong with Turtle Beach's Recon 70, which is just 23 bucks in Walmart's Black Friday sale. This headset works with both PC and all modern consoles, making it a great choice for those who own multiple systems. Its lightweight build and over-ear cushions also keep it comfortable during long play sessions.

Xbox Wireless Controllers (Includes New Model)

$20 off

This Best Buy Black Friday deal on Xbox controllers is particularly nice as it includes the new Xbox Series X/S model. As a result, we expect it'll sell out fairly quickly. In addition to working on the next-gen consoles, these controllers are compatible with Xbox One and PC.

Google Stadia Premiere Edition

$75 (was $100)

If you're a fan of Stadia, Google's cloud gaming platform, you can save on the Google Stadia Premiere Edition during Black Friday, getting you the official Stadia controller and a Google Chromecast Ultra for streaming games on your TV. You can then claim a free one-month trial of Stadia Pro, but even if you don't commit to Stadia long-term, this is still a solid deal. The Google Chromecast Ultra is a fantastic streaming device in its own right (currently costing $70 on its own at Amazon), and the Stadia controller feels great to use. It'll work wirelessly with laptops, desktops, and Android phones.

Arcade1Up Pac-Man Countercade

$130 (was $200), includes $30 Kohl's Cash

Arcade cabinet deals have been notably absent from many of the Black Friday ad scans released so far, but Kohl's will have a great discount on the Pac-Man Countercade machine during. Perfect for smaller spaces where a full-size cabinet may not fit, the Pac-Man Countercade lets you experience the original version of the classic game. The Ms. Pacman Countercade machine will also be discounted during the sale. One of the neat things about the Kohl's Black Friday sale is that you earn $15 in Kohl's Cash for every $50 you spend, so you'll earn $30 in store credit for this purchase.
