Things are about to get hellacious on Sunday, October 8 on the WWE Network when Hell in a Cell puts its stars inside an enclosed steel structure, which someone is bound to jump off the top of--looking at you Shane. The Smackdown brand-exclusive event starts at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT with the Kickoff show starting one hour prior. There are eight matches in total, two of which will take place inside the treacherous Hell in a Cell. Here's who is on the card for the event and our predictions.
Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin vs. The Hype Bros (Kickoff Match)
Opening up Hell in a Cell is the newly formed tag team of Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin taking on the long-standing team of the Hype Bros for the Kickoff. Because of the push and hype behind Gable and his new partner, I have a strong feeling they will come out on top as Smackdown starts to give a bigger push to its tag team division.
Our prediction: Gable & Benjamin win
Randy Orton vs. Rusev
The battle between Randy Orton and Rusev comes to a head at Hell in a Cell as this rubber match will decide which star comes out on top. This is a tough one to call, but I'm giving the win to Rusev, in hopes that he'll get a boot towards the main card or a title run in the near future.
Our prediction: Rusev wins
Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler certainly has a lot to say about people with larger-than-life entrances. And none other than Bobby Roode, whose entrance is quite glorious, took Ziggler to task, which led to a match at the PPV. I could see this rivalry going a long time. In order for it to continue, Ziggler needs his ego knocked down a peg, so I'm giving the win to Roode.
Our prediction: Roode wins
AJ Styles (c) vs. Baron Corbin
(For the United States Championship)
The man who squandered his Money in the Bank contract finally has a title shot against AJ Styles, after interfering between the champ and Tye Dillinger's battles. Will this match go on without a hitch? Probably not. I'm thinking Baron Corbin will get the win, but only after Tye Dillinger interferes, so the title will stay on Styles.
Our prediction: Corbin wins by DQ and Styles retains the title
The New Day (c) vs. The Usos (Hell in a Cell Match)
(For the Smackdown Tag Team Championship)
The Usos and The New Day have had quite the rivalry the past few months, and The Usos demanded a rematch after losing the titles recently. This will be a big match, taking place in the Hell in a Cell, and I'm thinking New Day will retain because these tag championships are getting passed back and forth a little too much already.
Our prediction: The New Day wins
Natalya (c) vs. Charlotte Flair
(For the Smackdown Women's Championship)
This should be a fantastic match. We have two of the biggest lineages in wrestling battling each other: Hart vs. Flair. While Natalya has been dominating the past few months as champion, I think it's time again for Charlotte to be the women's champ.
Our prediction: Charlotte wins
Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
(For the WWE Championship)
Shinsuke Nakamura has quickly made his way to one of the two main matches for Hell in a Cell, taking on current champion, Jinder Mahal. However, Mahal always has the Singh brother by his side, and more than likely, the champ will retain his title with help from his minions. This isn't the time for Mahal to give up his title
Our prediction: Mahal wins after some help from the Singhs
Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens (Hell in a Cell Match)
The Shane McMahon/Kevin Owens match has had one incredibly entertaining build-up, which included Vince McMahon getting headbutted. If you're like me and you pay attention to the rumors, Owens may be going to Raw in the upcoming months. That being said, McMahon will win this one and fire Owens from Smackdown.
